Portugal To Launch Native LLM in European Portuguese
Portugal enters the LLM space.
The Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, has announced a goal to launch a major Portuguese language model (LLM) in the first quarter of 2025.

The LLM is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) program that can recognize and generate text, among other tasks. The Prime Minister believes this will be a critical step for innovation in teaching, public administration, and companies, allowing for more inclusive and personalized services in Portuguese.

Additionally of note, there is news that Lisbon plans to waive €86 million in taxes, an improved train service between Setúbal and Lisbon, and the confirmation of Benjamin Clementine for the CoolJazz festival.
